Controller �� Hybrid - Primary Responsibilities:��

Oversee A/P, A/R, billing, fixed assets, payroll, monthly financial reporting, and other traditional accounting functions
Act as the primary liaison with our accounting firm for the annual review and tax filings
Be a part of the annual insurance renewal process and provide the data that is needed for the renewal
Work with the CFO on monthly financial statements ensuring accuracy and reporting integrity
Create and maintain a strong compliance and internal controls environment
Assume a key role in the management of the ERP system
Work with the accounting team to streamline and automate accounting functions
Work with the CFO on FAR accounting/compliance/audit
Tax compliance with various state tax requirements
Provide reports, as requested, by various levels of the company
Work closely to manage expenses and look for cost savings
Oversee sales and use tax reporting, Form 1099 filings, and other reporting/compliance requirements
Ad hoc accounting and financial analysis and projects, as necessary
Ensure compliance with all internal and external regulatory requirements��

A growing health care market led Gundersen Health System to decide on bringing a new facility to Sparta, Wisconsin. By building a larger regional clinic, the health care provider would enhance their existing services while also providing additional care options in the region. Knowing raSmith’s structural engineers have experience in health care and, specifically, clinics of this size, HSR Associates brought us to the design team.

Similar to other recent Gundersen Health System clinic projects, the architect designed a large, open lobby space with distinctive features consistent with the health system. Incorporating a steel-framed structure in the engineering design accommodated large expanses of glass within the lobby. ��Throughout the remainder of the building, as well as with the attached ambulance bay, numerous other challenges had to be met depending on specific equipment requirements.

Working collaboratively with the architect, our engineers coordinated a number of details that can be used as the architectural vocabulary—an established set of standards—for future clinic projects.

raSmith Wins ACEC Engineering Excellence Award

Taylor Hill water reservoir evaluation featured unique combination of traditional and contemporary equipment and methods

raSmith has received a 2018 State Finalist Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC), Wisconsin Chapter, for the .

Sheboygan Water Utility contracted with raSmith to complete the structural evaluation and lifecycle cost analysis of the Taylor Hill water reservoir in Sheboygan, Wis. The Utility needed to determine if the water reservoir, an 87-year-old historic structure, should be rehabilitated or completely replaced. With a four-million-gallon capacity, the sizable structure is an integral part of Sheboygan’s water distribution system as well as an iconic structure within the City of Sheboygan.

LiDAR (3D laser scanning) assisted our surveyor in documenting deficiencies of the entire reservoir. This captured thousands of pieces of data.

To accurately and efficiently complete the evaluation, raSmith’s staff used a unique combination of traditional and contemporary equipment and methods to quantify the water reservoir’s structural deficiencies. The structural engineer physically assessed the structure, working from an aerial work platform of heights of 30-plus feet from the ground, and spray painted areas of deficiencies. An raSmith surveyor then used LiDAR (3D laser scanning) to document deficiencies of the entire reservoir, which captured thousands of pieces of data that correlated with the spray-painted deficiencies. The data and lifecycle cost analysis led the Utility to choose to rehabilitate the structure and extend its useful life by 25 years.

Additional Information

The Taylor Hill water reservoir evaluation project represents methodology that enabled the Utility to gain a quick understanding of the reservoir’s issues so that a cost-effective solution could be chosen based on reliable and highly accurate data. The exact methodology employed on this project, including a hands-on structural inspection, structural assessment, LiDAR scanning, and lifecycle cost analysis and reporting, can be applied to many other structures of various sizes and complexities that require structural evaluation or rehabilitation.

From the beginning, the project was viewed as an analysis, not a repair. The purpose was to evaluate rehabilitation and ongoing maintenance options. All deficiencies were evaluated and documented; alternatives were developed, which ranged from leaving the structure as is to complete demolition and replacement. Using the lifecycle cost analysis, the Utility determined that the most sustainable and economical option was to repair portions of the reservoir. The evaluation and repair work will help maintain the City’s water distribution system as designed and ensure clean water within the community.

Bublr Bike Share System

The Wisconsin communities of Wauwatosa, AG��ƽ̨�ٷ��վst Allis and Shorewood desired a bike share system for commuters, recreational users and tourists, providing these individuals with an alternative form of transportation for short-distance trips. Bike share systems function like libraries: Users check out a bicycle at one location and return it to the same or another station within the system’s service area.

Locating ideal station sites in each community required creative problem-solving. Each site needed sufficient right of way for equipment, balanced station density (the right amount of distance from another site), and a location close to destinations like restaurants, stores, city hall and farmers markets. Additionally, the team avoided placing stations by historic properties, archaeological sites and in parks. After planning and construction of the first phase in 2016, Wauwatosa successfully opened seven stations with 75 bicycles. Construction of bike share stations in AG��ƽ̨�ٷ��վst Allis and Shorewood will occur in 2017.

Appleton Sanitary Sewer Collection System Flow Monitoring Program

The city of Appleton wanted to understand which areas of their sanitary sewer collection system required additional investigation based on high sanitary sewer flows. raSmith provided a responsive, cost-effective solution to evaluate and prioritize areas of the city’s collection system that required further investigation.

raSmith’s municipal engineers developed a five-year flow monitoring program to identify and prioritize areas of the city’s collection system that needed further investigation for high sewer flows. The use of cellular modems with flow monitoring equipment allowed us to track each meter at multiple flow monitoring sites from a remote office. Crews were then dispatched appropriately to ensure high-quality data was collected.

Pabst Farms Industrial

The master-planned 1,500-acre Pabst Farms development in Oconomowoc, Wis. is Wisconsin’s largest mixed-use project. From the site planning effort to the latest developments, raSmith has played the primary role as the civil engineering and surveying consultant, as well as, significant landscape architecture and site planning services for a range of developments.

Among the industrial developments was the one-million-square-foot Roundy’s Distribution Center with all stormwater infiltrating on the site; ACE Precision for an 81,000 square-foot manufacturing facility; and Sentry Equipment Corp., a 51,000 square-foot light industrial facility.

Enterprise Business Park Building II

Enterprise Business Park in Racine County, Wisconsin, is located in the fast growing industrial corridor between Milwaukee and Chicago. Berghammer Construction Corporation (design build contractor) was approached by Ashley Capital (New York-based real estate investment firm) for a long-term phased development which includes the construction of four new big box warehouses at Enterprise Business Park. Having worked together previously on similar industrial projects, Berghammer was very familiar with raSmith’s structural experience on more than 40 industrial facilities.

The Enterprise project is the first industrial project in this area of the country to handle roof drainage in a non-traditional manner. raSmith and Berghammer are leading a transformation to design big box warehouse projects in Wisconsin such that roofs are pitched to the outside instead of the inside. Code requirements are such that traditional internal drains in the center of the roof and overflow drains around the perimeter require double plumbing.

Under this relatively new design method, drains are incorporated around the perimeter of the roof and the roof is hipped using tapered joist girder members to maintain clear height requirements. This method lessens the cost of the structural framing system (fewer pre-cast planks are needed around the perimeter). As a result of this innovative method, the developer realized significant cost savings. This is especially important to the end user who is heavily invested in the industrial equipment inside the building.
